Professional Accreditation Programme 2022

Enrolment for the 2022 IPR Ghana Accreditation programme has begun. The IPR Ghana professional PR Accreditation programme comprises one month of refresher courses and five days of coursework/examinations and interviews in five major categories of PR/Communications practice. It is administered by the Professional Development, Education and Accreditation Committee, a standing committee to the IPR Ghana governing Council, with final decisions and the conferring of certification decided by the IPR Ghana Executive Council.
IPR Ghana accreditation is adaptable to changes in the PR & Communications profession and sufficient to prepare professionals for career advancement in the PR/Communications subsector. The programme is well grounded in liberal arts, communication and business disciplines. Our refresher courses include;
(1) Principles & Concepts of Communication;
(2) writing/content creation with writing as a key component of each course;
(3) research;
(4) campaigns/case studies;
(5) ethics (including global perspectives and other responsibilities of the PR/Communications profession);
(6) PR Strategies;
(7) Monitoring and Evaluation;
(8) Digital Communications;
(9) Finance and general management skills.

Programme

The 2022 Accreditation refresher courses for both Affiliate and Associate level members/non-members of the Institute would be delivered in-person and virtual. Details of the programme are as follows;

  • ORIENTATION – THURSDAY 3 & FRIDAY 4 NOVEMBER, 5PM- 7PM- Virtual
  • REFRESHER COURSE LEVEL I (AFFILIATES) Monday 7 November – Friday 2 December (5pm – 7pm Weekdays)
  • EXAMINATIONS – Monday 12 December – Friday 16 December (5PM – 8PM WEEKDAYS)
  • REFRESHER COURSE LEVEL II (ASSOCIATES) Monday 7 November – Friday 2 December (5pm – 7pm Weekdays)
  • EXAMINATIONS – Monday 12 December – Friday 16 December, (5PM -8PM WEEKDAYS)
  • LEVEL II (ACCREDITED) Candidate Interviews (Including Exemptions) – FROM MONDAY 16 – FRIDAY 20 JANUARY 2023

Eligibility

• Prospective candidates for Level I must possess any one of the following:

1. A recognized post graduate degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or Social Sciences plus a minimum of one (1) year post qualification working experience in Public Relations.
2. A recognized degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or the Social Sciences plus a minimum of two (2) years post qualification working experience in Public Relations, or
3. A recognized diploma in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or the Social Sciences plus a minimum of three (3) years post qualification working experience or a certificate in Journalism, Public Relations / Advertising or Marketing plus participation in an IPR course / seminar plus a minimum of five (5) years post qualification working experience in Public Relations.

• A prospective candidate for Level II must possess:

1. A Level I certificate of the Institute plus a minimum of three (3) years post Level I working experience in Public Relations or related field.

• A prospective candidate for exemption from examinations must possess the following:

1. A masters or higher degree in Public Relations or related field such as Journalism or Communications with not less than ten (10) years working experience in Public Relations, five (5) of which must be at a Senior Management level to be admitted as an Accredited Member.
2. A post-graduate qualification in Public Relations or related field such as Journalism and Communications with not less than five (5) years working experience to be exempted from one level ONLY.

• Prospective candidates may apply by submitting the following:

1. Curriculum Vitae indicating educational institutions attended, courses / seminars attended, certificates and years obtained, employment history and post examination working experience in Public Relations or related field for non-members
2. Candidates for exemptions shall make a power point presentation of a case study on a PR related issue of choice and pass a verbal interview.

Fees

A non-refundable fee payable to the Institute of Public Relations, Ghana as follows:

Level 1
Refresher Course & Examinations: Members – Ghc 2,550.00 : Non Members- Ghc 3000.00 (This includes membership registration)

Level II
b) Refresher course & examinations: Members – Ghc 3,200.00
c) Non Members – Ghc. 3,650.00 (This includes membership registration)
d) Exemptions: From Affiliate Member to Accredited Member – Ghc. 5,000.00
Non Members – Ghc. 5,450.00 (This includes membership registration)
e) Exemptions: From Associate to Accredited Member (Shortening of the required 3 years after Level 1) – Ghc. 4,475.00

Resit – Level I
Ghc 400.00 per paper.

Resit – Level II
Ghc 700.00 per paper.
IPR registered members must pay up all membership subscription arrears before the release of results.

Closing Date

Closing date for the receipt of application/registration is Tuesday, November 1, 2022 for the Refresher course and Examination. Closing date for Exemption applicants is Tuesday, October 25, 2022. Late applications will not be accepted. Full payment of fees should be made before the start of examinations or exemption interviews/case studies presentations.
